Impact Pearls

Their Impact white and silver pigments provide a soft white and silver color, a luminescent to a sparkling or shimmering effect to a wide variety of cosmetic and personal care products. Impact white pigments vary in luster from silky and smooth to very sparkly, depending upon particle size and distribution.

Optique Iridescence

Impact Color’s Optique pigments are used to create lustrous or opalescent effects in all types of cosmetics and personal care products. Optique iridescent pigments use thin precisely controlled coatings of titanium dioxide on mica platelets to separate white light into its component parts and produce dual colors, one by reflection and one by transmission, which then appear as iridescent luminosity.

Chromatique Colors

Impact’s Chromatique pigments provide intense and dramatic colors and a variety of pearlescent effects to many types of cosmetic and personal care products. Chromatique pigments contain an absorption colorant deposited on either a mica substrate or an interference pearl base, providing a much more intense and rich color effect. In grades using an interference base, the colorant is selected to reinforce the reflection color of the interference pigment. The result is a single color dramatically enhanced through the reflection color complimenting the transition color.

Eldorado Gold

Eldorado gold pigments are composed of mica coated with titanium dioxide and iron oxide. Wider arrays of gold shades are obtained by differing particle sizes and the ratio of iron oxide to titanium oxide.

Eldorado gold pearls are useful for a wide variety of decorative cosmetic and personal care products where golden luster or sparkle effect is desired.

They can also be used in all types of gels or emulsions, either to provide a golden glitter effect in the product itself or a golden sheen when applied to the skin.

Eldorado Metallics

Eldorado metallic and earth tone colors offer deep, warm tones. Eldorado pigments can be used alone, blended together or added as accents to other colors. They add metallic depth and highlights to eye shadows, eyeliners, lipsticks, nail enamels, shampoos, soaps, and many other personal care products. Eldorado luster pigments are free-flowing powders that can be used alone or blended with other effect-enhancing pigments to increase visual impact.

Biluna Bismuth

Biluna pigments are pure bismuth oxychloride pigments that are impart rich satiny luster, excellent covering power and optimal compressibility and binding characteristics to cosmetics. Biluna’s soft optical effects help to gently defuse ambient light helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Biluna’s are available in a variety of particle sizes and bulk densities, and UV resistant. Biluna bismuth Oxy Chloride crystals can be used for anhydrous nail enamels; anhydrous products such as lipstick and eye shadow; aqueous products such as liquid foundations, lotions and other personal care products.

Bichroma Colors

Bichroma Colors offer a soft luster, excellent transparency and satiny color. Bichroma colors are bonded to bismuth oxychloride that is coated on mica. This composite pigment imparts a silky feel to many cosmetic and personal care formulations while improving skin adhesion.

Diamond Silicates

Diamond pearlescent and iridescent pigments deliver exceptionally dramatic optical effects, including significant depth, sparkle and very intense spectral colors. Their Diamond pigments achieve exceptionally high levels of chromaticity, color purity, brightness, transparency and reflectivity. Diamond pigments offer the ability to create a brilliant, star-like glitter effect based on their smooth surfaces and large particle size. They also produce a true multicolor effect, when two or more Diamond shades are blended.

Diamond pigments also can add great visual depth and dimensionality because their novel substrate has a high level of transparency.

Amerchol, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company and its consolidated affiliates, introduced a new patent-pending excapsulation and delivery system at In-Cosmetics 2008 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Known as SatinFX delivery system, this versatile, easy-to-use technology enables both hydrophobic and hydrophillic actives to be encapsulated in a variety of skin care products.

The introduction of the SatinFX delivery system is another example of Amerchol's strategy to bring new technologies to the personal care industry in support of market needs meant to fulfill the increasingly sophisticated demands of the consumer. The SatinFX delivery system helps to address formulators' needs to improve the stabiilty and delivery of active ingredients, in response to the consumer demand for more effective, multifunctional skin care products.

"Improving the stability of sensitive actives such as Vitamin C is a critical need of many skin care formulators. SatinFX delivery system provides enhanced stability over time, which helps prevent oxidation of the actives and discoloration of the finished product."

In addition to enhanced stability, the SatinFX delivery system also enables the encapsulation of "incompatible" ingredients to provide multiple performance benefits. For example, it can be used to encapsulate dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and amino acids to create sunless tanning products and also provide anti-aging benefits.

The SatinFX delivery system can also be used to improve the aesthetic properties of many formulations, such as facial creams, eye gels and serum, and body lotions. "Some actives provide significant benefits to the skin, such as alpha hydroxy acids, but they can also be very irritating.
